“then man prays to God, and he accepts him; he sees his face with a shout of joy, and he restores to man his righteousness.” (Job 33:26 ESV)

Genesis 44
>Much like the last time the brothers have their food buying money placed back into their traveling sacks but this time a silver cup is placed in Benjamin’s bag.
>Joseph is really trying to sell the fact that he’s truly Egyptian so he says that the silver cup is his way of practicing divination.
>Joseph’s servant goes and catches up with everyone and they swear that they did not steal and then offer up Benjamin’s life as proof.
>When they are caught red handed with the silver cup in Benjamin’s bag they all travel back to talk with Joseph face to face.

The Test
>Judah continues the leadership that he picked up last chapter and really steps forward.
>The turning point of this chapter is when Judah has the brothers get away from their deceptions and their resentments of their younger brothers and just upright admits that they had been caught. “What shall we say to my lord? What shall we speak? Or how can we clear ourselves?”
>Judah then proceeds to speak on how if Benjamin does not return home that Jacob will die and he offers himself as a replacement for Benjamin.

Genesis 45
>After putting his brothers to the test to see if they’ve gotten over their jealousy and blaming, Joseph listens to Judah make a plea for Benjamin’s life.
>This is quite the step up from the boys who hated their brother so much that they threw him down a pit and then sold him into slavery. We didn’t even talk about the fact that they duped their father into thinking that Joseph was dead.
>Joseph just cannot take it anymore and cries out so loud that pretty much the entire country knows that he has strong feelings for his brothers.
>His brothers don’t quite know how to take the news though…

Reconciliation
>Posłał mię tedy Bóg przed wami, abym was zachował ostatek na ziemi, a żebym wam dodał żywności na oswobodzenie wielkie. (Rodzaju 45:7)
>And God sent me before you to preserve for you a remnant on earth, and to keep alive for you many survivors. (Genesis 45:7 ESV)
>Joseph promises to move the family to Goshen; the good land of Egypt. There they will be safe from the famine that has 5 years left to go.
>Joseph is really close to Benjamin because they were both sons of the favorite wife.
>The brothers end up heading back and to get their dad so that they can live through the famine.
>Jacob ends up becoming a “new” old man because now he knows that his long lost son is alive.
